Monoethylene Glycol is mainly used in the production of polyesters, polyethylene terephthalate (PET), engine cooling fluids and industrial refrigeration systems, being an important dehydrating agent, good humectant, and an industrial solvent.
Monoethylene Glycol is a colorless, clear, non-corrosive, odorless, sweet-tasting liquid with low toxicity. It is miscible with organic solvents in general and with water. Monoethylene Glycol will not dissolve rubber, cellulose acetate or heavy vegetable or petroleum oils. Monoethylene Glycol has low volatility and is 50% more hygroscopic than glycerol (glycerin) at room temperature.
